Module 4

The vast array of tools available to facilitate learning is amazing. When ever I need to learn something new I first start at Google and enter a pretty generic search criterion so that I can find out what some of the basics for that concept. This helps steer my research and depending on what I need it for is where I will go next! If it is for a presentation for my students or colleagues I might create a prezi so that they can see the information presented in a more dynamic way. Once I have demonstrated the new technology like prezi or gloster I then will have my students create something using that technology so that they have access to new ways to present their ideas.

I am a visual learner so I like prezi, gloster, and United Streaming because they allow me to see what is going on and help me build a picture of what needs to happen. I know not all of my students learn in this manor so I try and come up with other fun things for them to do!

The Internet has drastically changed what I do when I have questions! When I was younger I used to go to my parents and ask endless questions because I thought they knew everything. My mom always told me to go look it up, like I had the resources to do that! She would then take me to the library where the librarian and I would search the card catalog to find a book that might have the answer. My dad on the other hand would just make up an answer on the spot that sounded so real that I always bought and I would then share my new found knowledge with the rest of the world. It had to be right my dad told me so! I know can verify very easily if what comes out of my dad’s mouth is truth or fiction much easier now and I make a fool out of myself way less often!

Jody,
After a stressful day at work you made me laugh, with your final statement:)
I too am a visual learner and tends to relate to concepts that are accompanied by graphics, images and other visual aids! Your post was quite informative. I have never heard of prezi or gloster before. I thought they were fascinating site that could truly enhance learning. I am already deciphering how to add prenzi "hooks" in introducing new concepts to my students and collaborating with our instructional technologist in implementing gloster! Thanks to you I have now added two great sites to my limited collection.

I am sooo happy that you liked the sites that I talked about let me tell you if you can incorporate them into your classes the more fun you and your kids can have!

I am a visual learner as well. Tell me and I won't remember but let me see through pictures or words and I usually can remember (or at least I'll keep that piece of paper to help me remember:).

I'm fairly new at Prezi but I think that it is cool. I just need more time to play with it and watch new and old how-to videos to become more comfortable with it.

Jody--

You probably have the best mind map of all of us. It is so simple, and yet it tells us exactly what how you applied connectivism to all of your networks. I especially liked the way that you placed connectivism at the center of your mind map.

Very nicely done.

Keep at it you will love it and try to find some ways to get your students to try it they love it! A friend of mine is teaching a remidal math class and his students are so impressed with it that they want to make there own and he said that they needed to get a day ahead so they had time to make their own and they did it! They made some great presentations!

Thanks! I sometimes have trouble seperating out the components of my life because they all overlap!
